We Truly Care

In March of 1956, Roy Ivey, Sr. and John Ivey bought Lumber Sales Exchange and under the name of Lumber Sales, Inc. began to handle mostly contractor trade. In 1958, Carl Ivey joined the firm. Ivey Lumber decided to change directions and in 1960 began to focus in on the consumer markets. A new retail store was built at the Peavy Rd location in the fall of 1960. They opened a cabinet shop in 1964 and the staining plant in 1968.

In 1970, a second location was opened in Garland. A third location, in Oak Cliff, was opened in 1972 but was closed within two years. In 1977, a fire and a collapsed building caused the closing of the Garland location. One year later (1978), a new store opened at our current location on Plano Road at the LBJ Freeway.

Even though she had been working at the store since she was about 5 years old, Carla Ivey joined the company on a full-time basis in 1983 after graduation with a business degree from Texas Tech.

Today - Ivey Lumber operates from a single location on Plano Road led by Carl as CEO and Carla as President with the next generation preparing to lead Ivey Lumber into the future.
